Today for Fiberglass Friday we thought we would show you some of the buggies that were spotted out and about last weekend. Every year there is the NSRA Street Rod Nationals East held in York, PA. It has become a local tradition to cruise Rt. 30 on Friday and Saturday night. While many others line the road with their lawn chairs to see all of the cool and crazy cars that come out, this year there seemed to be more buggies out than usual! This weekend is always great for the VW guys because not only is there the fun of cruising on Friday and Saturday, but then Sunday is The June Bug Classic at Maple Grove Race Way. Not only did we see many of our customers, but also a few beautiful buggies and even one that was out on the strip racing at this show!
Bright and early yesterday morning John left for his trip west! John will be making eight stops along the way, 4 of which are our dealers. John's first stop will be at Jim's Custom VW, in Columbiana, Ohio. Then drop off a frame to a customer in Ohio. Next, it is on to Iowa where he will drop off a Nostalgia Body to a customer. Then he will drop some bodies and chassis at Rails and Off-Road Repair in Denison, Iowa. Next, it's time for the long haul from Iowa to Spokane Valley Washington to our newest deal Hook's Air-Cooled, where john will be dropping off even more chassis. When done at hook's, he will start heading back east! On his trip back he will also be making some stops in Michigan, first at Dune Engines, then on to B&D to pick up some more rebuilt transmissions. Then it's back to the shop after one more stop to pick up a torsion core from a customer that had gotten a chassis on the last trip!
This morning we have a whole bunch of visitors! first of all our dealer, Faron from 109 Dune Buggies came on by to pick up the few GTX bodies and one GTX chassis! Faron decided to help out a fellow Manx club member, John, by bringing up his new Hummbug! Now with John came Andy to help out... Then Rod decided to come so he could also help and meet Faron and help out. John also picked up a Deep marine blue metal flake baby body, Faron picked up a lime green baby body and both Andy and Rod put orders in for their baby buggies!
Today we just thought that we would remind you of Bugs By the River which will be happening on August 14th this year here at our facility at 201 Ross Ave., New Cumberland, Pa. Just like every year, the entry for both show cars and spectators is completely FREE! We will have also have our store and shops open for you to browse, and see all the bugs, buses, and of course buggies that we are working on! So we thought we would share some photos from the past few years of just some of the many cars that have shown up! we hope that we will get to see you all here!
Since we didn’t share many photos lately of the Meyers Manx Dual Sport Baja Edition that we have be building for @car_classactracing to race in the @norra1000 in 2022, which was on display last weekend at @carlisleipn here are just a few photos... there still in a bunch of work to get ready to compete next year...
It has been a little while since we've given you an update on some of the buggy projects that we're working on in the shops, and are nearing completion. Starting with the white A&A fiberglass Buggy that Duke is finishing up the wiring on, this buggy is getting very close to being completely wired and soon will be going for a ride under its own power. Next, we have Dave's Black 81 metal flake Nostalgia that Pat, at Rails and Off Road Repair in Denison Iowa did the majority of the build for us. Kevin is working on getting the brand new set of PRP seats mounted to a pair of our adjustable seat tracks. We will then make it comply with Pa. regulations and title it. We Also Have this Manx -2 in its original E8 (Bright Orange) Metal flake gel coat. We installed new front wheel bearings, checked out the rear bearings, did a Pa. safety inspection. After a carb adjustment and timing check it will be ready to go. Lastly, we have Sal's Tangelo Bronze Metal flake Nostalgia that we've been building, while there are still a few cosmetic touches that still need to be done, we are now in the final stages of this build where we drive the buggy and give it some good shakedowns to make sure that the buggy is ready to hit the roads with the customer!
