On Saturday The Acme Cup 2022 season Came to a close! As the season comes to a close we look back at all the great times that were had. From the extremely close races on Cortright vs. Cortright to when our northernmost racers came down and prompted the singing of Oh Canada and USA. We also have so highly engineered cars such as the Cortright's and Parisien's cars to creative cars like rob's bubble bath racer. We had racers of all ages from all over racing for the Championship this past Saturday and in the end, it came Down to Stephanie Mabin and Jeanie Cortright, with Jeanie finishing on top giving her another first place trophy and crowning her the winner of the Acme Cup for the inaugural 2022 Season! We can not wait to announce all the dates for the races next year! We will Have races at the 3 events we had this year as well as at another event that we will be announcing soon! Thank you to all who Raced with us this year and helped us prove that Valve Covers and do more than leak! At Jeanie Cortrights’ request the Acme Cup trophy will be a “traveling” trophy. Each seasons winner will be memorialized on the trophy, on display here at Acme. A separate personal trophy will be given to the winner.

On Monday we focused on our Show over the weekend today we thought we would share some photos from our ACME Run Down the River! We had just over 20 Cars total show up for the cruise! Remember we will be doing another run next year and will be open to anyone with an Air Cooled car weather Bug, Bus, or Buggy all are welcome!

The Bugs by the River weekend festivities kick off in just 2 days with the Acme Run Down the River will kick off with a drivers meeting at 9:30 in our back lot! We hope to see you there! Anyone from out of town coming we have people camping in our back lot as well as some staying at different hotels locally all are welcome to join!

Getting the final products done for customer who will be picking up at our show which is only 3 days away… we are finishing up a few chassis as well as an moss green and emerald green Nostalgia for 109 dune buggies as well as and orange Nostalgia for another customer!

We were out in the GTX+ over the weekend doing some final preparations for our acme run down the river on Friday and had to hope off the route for some pictures down the one dirt road!

Today for Fiberglass Friday we thought we would share with you a buggy that came into the shop for a bit of work. What is special about this buggy is it is actually a body that Berrien Buggy used to produce called a Berrien Citation II! This particular example is one of very few that we have seen that have the Manx style hood rather than the model t style hood! This body is also still in its original Brilliant Orange Metal Flake Gel Coat which is in good condition with no stress cracks! One of the easiest ways to identify a Citation II is the edge of the body has a lip that runs all the way around it! Although we do still have the mold for this body it was badly damaged when we received it and sadly would take a lot to bring it back into production.

On Friday we shared some photos in our post of Tyler rolling on some fiberglass to the first Nostalgia to be produced in the new Acme Composites shop at our facility in New Cumberland. Well as some of you may have seen on our story late in the day on Friday we popped that body out of the mold! Although this body is not finished we wanted to show you how bodies look fresh out of the mold before trimming and buffing! One of the big things you'll notice is there is a large lip around the outside that you would never see on the finished product. That is there for one main reason and that is that it gives us something to pry on (we use plastic chisels for that), when we go to pop the body from the mold without putting any blemishes, or stress cracks, on the body. One other difference which you don’t see as much in photo or even in person all that much is the sheen and smoothness is not as bright and as smooth as it will be after all is said and done and its been trimmed and buffed!
