Today for #MetalflakeMonday we decided to share some of our fun metal flake mixtures that we have done! One of the coolest things you can do when you order a new buggy from acme (or and other Berrien Buggy dealer) is get a color that was custom made just for you unlike all the generic colors you can get else where and see all the time!
Today for Fiberglass Friday we thought that we would share some photos of this beautiful special mixture Imp body! This Imp was ordered in Emerald Green metal flake with a pinch Dark Gold metal flake! The customer has already shortened a chassis for this body and from what I hear the goal is to have this Imp done to make it to the Carlisle Import nationals in May! This body is the perfect example of the individuality of buggies! We always say here that a buggy is meant to be built as a representation of the buggy owner's personality which is why every buggy is just slightly different! One way to make your buggy a one-of-a-kind buggy is with a custom color mixture! Next time that you are thinking about building a new buggy, remember that you could get a special mixture color that has never been used before!
A update on the GTX+ from President of the company John!
I took the GTX-+ prototype to the Manx on the Banks this year to try it
out. It was hurriedly finished up just before we left for the Outer Banks
of North Carolina. We got there early and took a trip to Ocracoke with my
BNR teammates, and ran on the beach, and had a great time. On day one of
the official event, I developed an engine oil leak that turned out to be a
cracked head, the car was done for the rest of the trip. I trailered it
home, tore it apart and I am now replacing the cracked head with a rebuilt
one. While I have things torn apart, I have also replaced the water pump,
starter, timing chain, and injectors. I am also dressing things up a bit in
the engine compartment. I thought maybe everyone would be interested in what
it looks like when you do major engine work on our GTX buggies. I have had
no access issues while doing this work. I ordered all the replacement parts
either on Amazon or from our local Advance Autoparts store.
Today for Fiberglass Friday we thought we'd share one of the projects that we have been working on in the shop this week the First ever Tubular Dune Imp chassis! as you can see this chassis is just about to the stage of being a roller! The braking system is complete, with 4 wheel disc brakes! The throttle, clutch, and emergency brake cables are all ran and shortened. The floor pan has been stretched the 2 extra inches as well painted with some textured paint to keep from slipping. Next, we need to get the tires on a nice set of torque thrusts and install them on the chassis! Then we will be installing the stunning purple metal flake Dune Imp Body!
A reminder for all of our East Coast dune buggy fans don't forget about this year's Import and Performance Nationals in Carlisle PA. The dates are May 13th-14th. This is one of the largest buggy events open to everyone, here on the East Coast! Not only do you get to see over 2000 cars from all over the world, but also you have a large gathering of dune buggies! Last year there were over 40 buggies in attendance, 6 of which were featured cars inside a display building! one of our favorite parts is seeing the new buggies that come out. Many people build their buggies with the plan of unveiling them to all of their buggy friends! We know of at least 3 different Nostalgias that are being built in order to be ready to make their first appearance that this event! There are also some cruises and other events currently in the planning stages. We will have more information on these in the near future. We hope that we will be able to see everyone in Carlisle this May!
We've had a very busy last week of the year with the trailer work being slow which means it's full steam ahead on the dune buggy builds! We have some really fun builds going on right now for starters we have the first-ever Dune Imp chassis being assembled and the brand new Dark Purple Metal Flake Dune Imp Body is patiently waiting to be mated to its chassis! we also have been working on a swing axle chassis that is being built to go under a cool Lime Green Manx 1 body… Lastly, we thought that we would share the cool Caterham Super 7 that came in earlier this week for a PA enhanced inspection!
From All of us here at the Acme Companies we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and wish you the best New Year! we would like to remind you that we will be closed this Friday, Dec. 24th for Christmas Eve as well as next Friday, Dec. 31 for New Year's Eve!
