This week was one of the best and largest VW shows around @vagfairyork ! Although
the Judged show is just Sunday they have meets and cruise-ins starting on
Friday night including a Saturday night Meet and @collusiontapworks with
the guys from @rotiform at a location that has many cool murals painted on
the walls all around! Then on Sunday came time for the judged show, this
year with around 350 cars mainly water-cooled but there were a few
air-cooleds as well! Here are some of our favorite cars we saw this year
including a sandflee Pickup buggy, Alex's Turbo Charged super beetle, Tony's
widebody Scirocco, and of course Mario's '72 Super Beetle!
Today for Fiberglass Friday we thought we'd share one of the new buggies
that have entered our shop to have a little bit of work done! This buggy is
not like most... like our GTX buggies, it is a mid-engined custom chassis
set up! unlike the GTX, it is still VW powered! The rear end of this buggy
very closely resembles the complexness of a Formula Vee While the interior
is very basic with only the gauges and switches that are needed. The body
lines are very clean and smooth because the lights are all Frenched or flush
with the body to not distract you from the classic dune buggy lines!
Today for Mystical Monday we thought that we would share our newest Special
Mixture Metalflake Winter Wonderland! Those of you that are in our ACME Car Company Emporium-
Buggies, Sandrails, Kitcars and More... group will have already gotten a
sneak peak at this color last Thursday! This is another multi-color mixture
that came out of the our mind and we decide that we had to make hit a
Nostalgia Body! This mixture idea actually came to us along with the last
mixture that we shared with you the Sun Burst special mixture metal flake
and now they both are on display for all to see in the public show room one
on top the other and will be until someone decides that one of them is the
color for their next buggy!
Acme Cup Race 2 is just over a week away at Manx on the Hudson! Don't forget to make your final modifications and load up your valve cover racer when you load up your buggy. At this point, the Championship is anyone's to win with John Marcinka leading with Tim Waild following close behind! Thursday 7/21 will be "test and tune" and the bracket racing will be on 7/22
Over the past weekend we headed out to @Deutsche_Classic, which is always a great show! Although throughout the week the forcast was calling for rain, we were greeted with sunshine and nice blue skies! This year there were many different kinds of German cars to show up from VWs and Porsches to Messerschmitts and Kleinschnittger werkes! Even three dune buggies! We thought that today we would share with you some of our favorite cars from the show!

Partially completed 2021 Berrien Buggy - ACME Car Company Dune Buggy Build Kit Berrien’s Nostalgia fiberglass body on new Berrien chassis. This is not based on a VW donor car but a new chassis (see the ACME website).
I started this project over a year ago and quite frankly I have just plain lost interest in it. My original intention was to build just below show quality so attention to detail is great. Most exposed metal has been powder coated either professionally or in-house or shot by Line-X Anderson. Powder coat powders for in-house will come with the purchase. Since the build is not based on a donor car 99% of all parts and pieces are new. Parts and pieces in addition to the kit are included with approximate values shown and most receipts are in the build folder.

I chose to swap out the fiberglass floor for an aluminum diamond plate sheet which has been professionally Line-X’d.

Note that many parts and pieces have changed during the build process. Comes with both ACME MCO and a title to a ’74 VW Wagon for easy registration upon completion.

We always love when customers stop by the shop in their vintage VWs or Dune buggies! Last week the weather was just perfect for cruising and we had 2 people take advantage of that first was Jeff in the 1960 bug that he has been cruising all over the place lately! Then on Friday, we had a Dune buggy from Taylor Made Restorations in Gettysburg just so happen to stop at the shop next to our fiberglass shop. Funny enough he has Looney Toons murals all over his buggy and even "Acme Dune Buggy Company" painted on the rear fender although he didn't fully know about us and our restoration and aircooled parts shop in New Cumberland!
Some of you that have called in and talked to us, or have ordered bodies, and have heard about the move that is underway here at the Acme facilities. We realized that we have not shared it with everyone, so here's the breakdown of what is going on. we are moving our fiberglass shop from the Hanover location to the back shop at ACME Headquarters here in New Cumberland PA. The back shop was previously used as the main restoration and build shop area but those operations will now be in the South half of the main building. We have downsized the trailer/truck body portion to accomplish this. The effort is a large feat but it also will make work a lot smoother, and eliminate the constant 2 hour round trip drive between the 2 locations. At this time production is still being done in Hanover and will continue there until we are ready to move all the last bits of equipment. We will lose a few weeks of production in mid-July but are making every effort to minimize the impact on availability of products. By the time Bugs by the River rolls around, the fiberglass operation will be fully operational here in New Cumberland. We will be offering tours and maybe we will be giving a chopper gun operation. We will be posting pictures occasionally through out the move, and Tyler Imschweiler will be doing updates on his Story!
